Puli is the story of a sincere cop, Komaram Puli (Pawan Kalyan) who saves Prime minister’s life once. Prime Minister then gives him a free hand in eradicating crime. He then forms a Team called Puli Team to restrict the crime rate and help the needful. He then chases a mafia don, Al Saleem (Manoj Bajpai) who is suspected in the murder attempt of The PM. How Puli solves the case forms the rest.

Komaram Puli almost took 3 years to complete production. There were huge expectations on the movie from fans as the movie was directed by SJ Suriya who delivered a super hit to Pawan in the form of Kushi. But the movie let down miserably and finally remained as one of the biggest disasters in Pawan Kalyan’s career.
Highlights
This is the second movie in the combination of Pawan Kalyan and S.J Suriya. Earlier they have delivered a blockbuster hit in the form of Kushi.
A new comer Nikisha Patel from U.K (of Indian origin) made her debut opposite Pawan Kalyan in this movie. She did not get many chances in Telugu post-Puli and got busy in Kannada for a while. After a long gap, she now was casted in movies like Ohm and RUM.

Pawan Kalyan’s brother Chiranjeevi took a plunge in to active politics with his own party ‘Praja Rajyam’. And Pawan was made the head of its youth wing called ‘Yuva Rajyam’. Pawan took a long break from the movie shooting to participate in the election campaign which in turn delayed.
Producer of the movie, Singanamala Ramesh was arrested midway in the movie production, on the allegation that he is a binami of factionists Suri and Bhanu.
The budget of the movie increased by several folds as the movie making got delayed. He also made one more with Mahesh Babu at the same time which also got delayed due to Mahesh’s personal reasons.
After the movie release, Telangana agitators objected using the surname of Komaram Bheem, a famous freedom fighter from the region of Telangana. So, the makers had to remove the word ‘Komaram’ from the title.
