Sreeram (Sumanth) is a honest, helpful youth who aims to join politics for the betterment of the society and there is a girl, Seeta (Kamalinee Mukherjee) who wants to lead an independent life. Sreeram wants to marry her maradalu Raji (Neetu Chandra) but her parents settle her marriage with an IPS officer (Kamal Kamaraju). Seeta meets Sreeram and his relatives on their boat journey from Rajahmundry to Bhadrachalam. How both of them team up in life forms the crux of the story.
Trade
Godavari released with reasonable expectations due to the success of Sekhar Kammula’s previous film, Anand. But strangely the movie did not perform well up to the talk and reviews of the movie. It was an average grosser.
Highlights
This is the second combination of Sekhar Kammula and Kamalini Mukherjee after their successful Anand. Later on Kamalini became a common face in Kammula’s films.
KM Radha Krishnan scored two super hit music albums on a trot for Sekhar Kammula –Anand and Godavari.
Sidelights
There is a little track of a parrot and an astrologer in the movie. Sekhar Kammula got inspired it from a short story penned by his brother-in-law.
Sekhar Kammula himself dubbed for the street dog ‘Kotigadu’ which speaks in the movie.
