Dookudu story at a glance

Ajay Kumar (Mahesh Babu) is a tough cop. He arrests a deadly criminal but later gets suspended for his death in custody. Ajay and his team go to Istanbul to nab the entire gang. There he falls for Prashanthi (Samantha), a fashion designer. And later the story unfolds to reveal Ajay’s mission to seek revenge on those who made his father (Prakash Raj) spend several years in coma. Will Ajay succeed in his mission forms the remaining story?

    Post the debacle of Khaleja, Mahesh Babu was down and written off by many. Dookudu can be termed as his comeback movie. The movie was a clean entertainer with hilarious comedy. All classes of audience embraced it and it went on to become a huge hit. It was then the second biggest grosser of Tollywood.

    •  Mahesh Babu’s knack of acting especially in comedy scenes stood as a highlight. His timing in acting made him a different hero compared to any of his earlier movies.

    •  MS Narayana’s comic episodes drew the audience to the theaters
    •  Mahesh Babu plays the role of Police officer in the movie. A role which he also played in his previous super hit movie Pokiri.
    •  Samantha had paired up with Mahesh for the first time in this movie. They later acted together in Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.
    •  This is the first combination movie of Mahesh and Srinu Vaitla. Later the duo has announced that they are going to act in one more movie titled ‘Aagadu’.
    •  The film has won seven Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards, including the Nandi Award for Best Popular Feature Film and Nandi Award for Best Actor and six Filmfare awards including Best actor, Best actress, Best director, Best Music director and Best film.

    • The production house of the movie, 14 Reels Entertainments had created a new rage in movie promotion. Tollywood saw the pinnacle in publicity in online, electronic, print and outdoor media.
    • There were several allegations on the producers that they are faking the collections of the movie to project “Dookudu” as bigger hit than “Magadheera”.
    • “Dookudu” created sensation at US box office. It became the first Telugu movie to cross the $1 million mark there.
