Damarukam story at a glance
Andhakasura is a dreaded demon who wanders in an invisible form even after the expulsion of an entire demon tribe. He comes to know that when planets in the sky forms a particular shape (Panchagraha Kootami), he takes the shape and gets the power of 'Panchabhoothalu' and becomes super powerful. He should marry a girl Maheswari (Anushka) born at that moment to become the emperor of the entire Universe. Only Lord Shiva can eliminate him. So, he executes the elimination through the hero, Mallikarjuna (Nagarjuna).

As the movie is a socio-fantasy movie, the movie carried good amount of expectations in audience. But the interest was killed due to its repeated postponements of the movie. Still the movie manages to do well at the box office and ended as biggest grosser in Nagarjuna's career. Even then, the movie is considered a flop as its budget surpasses its collection. -

• Producer of the movie, RR Movie Makers ran in to severe financial crisis during the production of this movie. It was halted for several months. The movie even went on getting postponed twice after the advance booking was issued.• Nagarjuna and Anushka had forgone some part of their remunerations to ensure the smooth release of the movie.
