Billa (Prabhas) is a weapon dealer in Malaysia. Krishna Murthy is a cop who is sent to Malaysia in the hunt of Billa. In an encounter, Billa gets killed. Krishna Murthy keeps it a secret and introduces Ranga, a look alike of Billa in the mafia gang as a spy to track their business deals. Rest of the story is about how Ranga operates in the ‘Billa’ gang and bring them to justice.

Billa is the official remake of Ajith’s Billa which was a super hit in Tamil. The movie created tremendous hype due to its stills and posters but failed to reach up to the expectations of the audience. Huge amount of money was invested in the project. Finally it ended up as a financial failure.

Billa is the first remake film in Prabhas’ career.
This is the first combination movie of Prabhas and Meher Ramesh. Meher later went on to direct several big budget movies like Shakthi but all of them turned out to be financial failures.
Prabhas and Nayantara paired up for the second time in this movie after Yogi (2007). Heroine Namita was the supporting actress in the film opposite ‘Billa’ Prabhas.
For the first time in a Prabhas’ movie, Krishnam Raju (Prabhas’ paternal uncle) appeared in a key role.

Tamil Billa itself is a remake of NTR’s 1979 movie, Yugandhar, which is inturn an inspired and adapted version of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 super hit film titled Don.
