Arjun (Mahesh Babu) and Meenakshi (Keerthi Reddy) are twins share great love and affection. Meenakshi receives a love letter from her class mate Uday (Raja). She informs about it to her brother and expresses her interest in him. Arjun sets to Madurai along with his parents and gets the couple married. Uday's parents Bala (Prakash Raj) and Andal (Sarita) are cold-blooded murderers and they are not happy with this. Arjun foils all the attempts by Bala and Andal to get rid of Meenakshi from the life of Raja. The rest of the story of the film is about how he exposes the evil nature of the in-laws.

The movie released amidst huge hype as Mahesh Babu and Gunashekar delivered a blockbuster Okkadu previously. The movie was a sentimental one and did not go well with the expectations set by the movie. The movie ended up a commercial flop.

This is the second combination of Mahesh Babu and Gunashekar. Earlier they have teamed up for Okkadu and Sainikudu.
This is the first combination of Mahesh and Shriya Saran. Shriya was a hot favourite heroine then.
Heroine Keerthi Reddy acted as Mahesh’s sister in the movie and hero Raja acted as his brother-in-law.
Sidelights
Thota Tharani had recreated the magic of Madhura Meenakshi temple with huge set of a realistic finesse. But it was not used to the maximum effect in the film.
This movie was produced by Mahesh Babu’s brother Ramesh Babu.
Certain dialogues like “Madhurai ni kapadataaniki Meenakshi amma vundi. Naa meenakshi ni kapadukovataniki nenunnanu…” became very popular in those days.
The movie was later dubbed into Tamil as Varenda Madhuraiku, in Malayalam as Arjun and into Hindi as Maidaan-E-Jung.
