Roopa (Kamalini Mukherjee), an independent orphan girl gets ready to marriage with one of her colleagues, Rahul. A little difference cancels the marriage in the last moment. Then enters Anand (Raja) despite being a rich kid enters in to her life as an ordinary tenant in another portion in Roopa's house. He tries to get close her and also has a solid reason to do so. What is it and is he successful to in connecting to her forms the rest of the story.

Anand released with minimum buzz and with almost nil publicity but with the word of mouth, the movie went on to become a blockbuster. It belongs to the rare breed of films which got money to everyone involved in the movie trade.
Highlights
This is the first time Kamalini Mukherjee acted in a Sekhar Kammula film. From then she became a lucky mascot for Kammula and acted in several movies of the director.
50% of the movie budget was funded from National Film Development Council.

Anish Kurvilla, the director of Avakayi Biriyani is the executive producer of this movie. He even acted in a little role in the film.
