He financially assists her family and by the same right wishes to marry her but she loves Chari. On other hand, there is Narsimha or Narsi (NTR) who steals money from gangsters and hands over it to a police officer (Shayaji Shinde) who promised Narsi a post in the police. Narsi also romances with this police officer's daughter (Sheela). Eventually both of them land in Kolkata for a don. Who is he? What does he want from them forms the rest of the story

  • Trade

Adhurs is almost like old wine in new bottle. The movie offers nothing new but has some hilarious comedy which helped the movie rake in good numbers in the Sankranthi season. The controversial statements of the movie producer, Nani on Telangana hampered the movie screening in Nizam region. The movie is the biggest grosser in NTR’s career then.
  • Highlights

    • This is the second dual role movie of NTR after Andhrawala in which he acted as both father and son.
    • Nayantara and Sheela are the heroines of the movie. It was the first time for both of them acting with NTR.
    • This is the third movie in the combination of NTR and V.V. Vinayak, their earlier movies being Aadi and Samba.
  • Sidelights

    • The “Chary…” song in the movie was caught in controversy. Several Brahmin organizations objected the lyrics in the song and the makers had to change them to avoid trouble.
    • One of the producers of the movie, Kodali Nani made few Anti-Telangana movement comments during the movie run. The screening of the movie was stopped in the Nizam region then.
    • Even before the movie release, Telangana agitators threatened to stop the screening of the movie but the release was by and large peaceful due to the effective involvement of Telugu Desam Party cadre [as Jr. N.T.R is associated with the party] and the police.
    • This movie had been dubbed in Hindi as Judwa No.1 attracting the Hindi audience too when telecasted on TV.
