Nana Bhai (Aditya Pancholi) is a mafia don. Raghu Ram (Naga Babu) is an investigative journalist who does an undercover operation on him and prepares a report called 'Shadow'. Unfortunately the report falls in the hands of Nana, who tries to kill Raghu Ram and his family. Raghu Ram's son, Raja Ram (Venkatesh) survives the attack and vows to avenge the death of his family. Rest of the story is all about the revenge story of a grown up Raja Ram on Nana's gang and the twist that take place in the family.

After a long time, we see Venkatesh doing an action packed movie. The director concentrated more on styling than on the actual characterization. The shadow get up looks weird, while the normal get up Raja Ram is tailor made for Venky. For a brief moment, he acted as a memory loss patient, Chanti and that episode is totally terrible. Tapsee as Madhubala is gorgeous but is only confined to songs. The role of police officer, Pratap not at all requires a 100+ movies actor like Srikanth. Madhurima as his wife also gets a insignificant role.

MS Narayana as Psycho Srinivas managed few laughs. JP as home minister entertains for a brief moment. There are several other big names like Suman, Nasser, Shiyaji Shinde, Vennela Kishore, Thagubothu Ramesh who are totally under used.

Meher Ramesh is one director who is capable of taking 'What not to do' classes for aspiring directors. For some reason, his producers trust him a lot and he totally abuses that freedom. He wasted money like water to portray the scenes that have zero effect. The basic plot of the story is almost like a stone age material and he embedded that with some glam here and there. The screenplay and narration is also totally imperfect which further tests the patience of the audience. He even failed to make use of some brilliant actors. Its time for retrospection Meher, lest your career should end here.

Thaman has delivered an average album for the movie. The title song of the movie is decently picturized and the last song, Naughty girl on Tapsee is good. The back ground score is good as well.

Prasad Murella's camera work is okay. The grading work is good. He put more efforts into taking aerial shots in Malaysia which are totally unnecessary. The editing work by a senior like Marthand K. Venkatesh is totally inexcusable. Action sequences are well composed.

Shadow is a fine example of how some directors take things for granted. Even after having two prominent writers, Gopi Mohan and Kona Venkat in the crew, the director derived nothing for the story. We have seen similar movies since 80's. Meher just added few 'GenX' elements and called it Shadow. Except for some comedy scenes by MS, good action sequences and BGM by Thaman, there is nothing watchable. You can safely give it a miss.
