Gandharva Mahal is an ancestral property of Rayudu (Prabhu) who lets it for lease. He has two daughters Visalakshi (Madhumitha) aand Jagadha (Deeksha Seth). Rayudu wants to marry off his elder daughter and the bride groom’s side wants Gandharva Mahal as dowry. Then comes a young guy Manoj (Manchu Manoj) to stay in the Mahal for rent. Rayudu decides to give away the Gandharva Mahal as dowry. But the Gandharva Mahal has a bitter flashback and it still haunts the Mahal. What is the flash back and why Manoj arrived to the Mahal forms the rest of the story.

The film generated huge hype before release. Even though the movie got mixed response, it failed to score a hit at the box office. The movie was made with a budget of 24 crores approx but the makers bared huge losses for this film.
Highlights
Gandharva Mahal set itself costed the producers 6.25 crores. 2.5 lac tons of iron was used for the construction of the mahal. This mahal set was erected in Manikonda.
After very long time Nandamuri Balakrishna acted in multi-starrer film. And his duration in the movie is 20 minutes.
Initially the makers planned to make the movie with a budget of 11 crores but it got doubled later on.
The makers had a tie-up with MBS Jewellers and loaned jewelry worth 1 crore rupees from their Mumbai showroom and a bike worth 30 lacs from Harley Davidson’s showroom in Hyderabad was also taken on loan basis and Kala Mandir shopping mall has provided wedding costumes for the movie.
This is Sekhar Raja's ( a protégé of creative director Krishna Vamsi) directorial debut.
Sidelights
Sekhar Raja narrated the story in the year 2007 itself. But as Manoj was busy with his commitments, the movie got delayed.
This film was shot in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. The Tamil version was titled as Varuvan Thalaivan.
The shooting of the film was completed in a single schedule.
Lakshmi Manchu, along with Manoj, established Manchu Entertainments banner to produce this movie.
