Kaali Prasad (Prabhu) is a goon in Bejawada. Vijay Prasad (Mukul Dev) is his most trusted aide and this is not liked by Kaali’s brother Shankar (Abhinayu Singh). Shiva Prasad (Naga Chaitanya) is the younger brother of Vijay Prasad. He is in love with Geethanjali (Amala Paul), daughter of commissioner of police (Ahuthi Prasad). Kaali Prasad and later Vijay Prasad get killed and the fight for power ensues between Shiva Prasad and Shankar. Ultimately who wins this power struggle is the rest of the story.
Trade
Naga Chaitanya desperately looked for mass image and expected to bag a box office hit with this movie. He relied on a newbie Vivek Krishna, who came from RGV’s school. But the situation turned out negative as the movie registered disaster talk right from the morning show of the release day.
Highlights
This is the first straight movie of Amala Paul in Telugu.
Vivek Krishna and Naga Chaitanya teamed up first time for this movie.
Sidelights
Naga Chaitanya had taken the TV rights of the movie as remuneration.
This movie was actually supposed to be directed by Ram Gopal Varma but Nagarjuna did not agree as RGV is in bad spree.
The movie was first titled ‘Bejawada Rowdeelu’. There was a huge uproar in Vijayawada as the locals felt RGV was trying to project their city in bad light.
Preetika Rao was the first choice as the heroine for the movie, but was later shown the exit door as the unit felt she looked older than Chaitanya.
