Satya (Naga Chaitanya) is a college student who discontinues his studies in Vizag and comes to Hydearabad in search of a job. He stays with his uncle (Sunil) in Hyderabad and gets a job in a nursery. He runs into a fight with the local college students who are influenced by a political mafia leader Durga Rao (J D Chakaravarthy). With some intial failure, Satya finally joins the college to change them. And there is Vidya (Karthika) who wants to join college but her brother feels it not safe and she works as a school teacher. Rest of the story is how Satya cleanses the college and wins Vidya.

Josh is the debut movie of Akkineni scion Naga Chaitanya. The movie carried tremendous hype as Naga Chaitanya, the heir of Nagarjuna is being introduced and that too by a successful producer like Dil Raju. The movie failed to live up to expectations of the fans and eventually remained a failure.

Josh is also the debut movie of director Vasu Varma who previously had worked in the direction department for Dil Raju’s productions.
Sidelights
Nagarjuna felt that there would be so many expectations running on Chaitanya’s debut movie. Hence he opted for a new director with a novel concept. Even after the failure, Nagarjuna expressed no regret over that movie on many occasions.
There was a huge congregation of celebrities at the audio function of the movie. Both the maternal and paternal grandfathers of Naga Chaitanya - Rama Naidu and ANR, his dad Nagarjuna, uncle Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Mohan Babu and others graced the function and blessed Naga Chaitanya amidst huge fan fare.
Balakrishna’s new look with a beard and moustache also stole considerable light in the audio function of Josh.
