Arya is a fun loving orphan lad. On his first day of college, a rich spoilt brat Ajay (Siva Balaji) climbs the college top and threatens to jump from there if Geeta (Anuradha Mehta) does not accept his love proposal. She readily agrees.
Being a meek girl, Geeta accepts the proposal and starts dating him. Arya (Allu Arjun) falls in love with Geeta at the very first sight. He proposes her in front of her boyfriend. She bluntly refuses. The rest of the film is all about how he wins Geeta.
The movie is the second film in Allu Arjun’s career. It released with almost zero expectations and very well struck the chord of the youth. The movie went on to become a huge hit thus registering the first commercial hit of Allu Arjun.
The dances of Allu Arjun in the movie had mesmerized youth and masses alike. With this movie, he had announced himself that he is here to stay.
The film was dubbed in Malayalam as Arya - Proud of Youth. It was remade into Odiya as Pagala Premi with actor Sabyasachi Mishra, in Tamil as Kutty and Bengali (Bangladesh) as Badha.
The chartbuster item number “Aa ante Amalapuram…” of the movie was later reused in the Bollywood film Maximum by Devi Sri Prasad.
