Ram Bhupal Varma (Nassar) picks up and grooms a child, Simhadri (NTR). He stays loyal to the entire family. Kasturi (Ankita) is the grand daughter (daughter's daughter) of Ram Bhupal Varma. Kasturi likes Simhadri a lot. Ram Bhupal Varma wants to adopt Simhadri and marry him to Kasturi. Then a shocking truth of Simhadri grooming a mentally retarded girl, Indu is revealed. The marriage will be put off and a series of incidents take place which shifts the movie to Kerala revealing the other side of Simhadri as Singamalai.
Trade
The movie carried substantial amount of hype right from its start as it was directed by Rajamouli who earlier directed NTR’s Student No.1. It increased exponentially as the stills of the movie were revealed one after the other. The audio album was a chartbuster then and the movie was a blockbuster hit taking NTR close to the masses.
Highlights
This is the second combination of NTR and S.S. Rajamouli. They had earlier paired up for Student No.1 and for Yamadonga later.
Ankita paired up with NTR for the first time in this movie. Bhumika played the other heroine role. She also paired up with NTR later in Samba.
Sidelights
Ankita who played the female lead in the movie made her debut with Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo in which NTR’s father Hari Krishna played one of the lead roles.
Ankitha is a former child actor in the prestigious advertising campaign for ‘Rasna’ a juice product in the 1980s and was rather popular as "Rasna baby"
