After her 12th standard, Swathi joined Television and started anchoring a TV show, Colours. The show was a big hit on TV and it went on for more than 150 episodes. She even anchored several popular TV shows and became a well known face across the state in a very short time.
Filmy Career:
In 2005, Swathi made her filmy debut in Krishna Vamsi’s Danger film. The movie was an average performer then. In 2007, she appeared in a supporting role in Venkatesh’s Aaduvari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule and earned good name for the little role she played. The next year she made her Tamil debut with Subramaniapuram in which she played a full length heroine role. In the same year, she also played a full length heroine role in Telugu film, Ashta Chamma. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and Nandi Award for Best Actress. The movie was also a blockbuster.
Despite getting a big success, offers did not flow to Swathi as she looked very young beside most heroes in the film industry. She also became very choosy in her roles. She acted only in five movies after 2008 in Telugu. Out of which Golconda High School and Swamy Ra Ra were successful but Kalavaramaaye Madhilo, Katha Screenplay Darsakathvam – Appalraju and Bangaru Kodipetta did not fare well at the box office. Finally she made a comeback to success streak with his lucky charm, Nikhil. She paired up with him for the second time in Karthikeya and the film became super hit.
