Srikanth Addala hails from Relangi, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. His father, Addala Mentarao used to work in Endowments department. Srikanth has an elder brother and a younger sister. He completed his B.Sc degree in Tanuku and later did his Post Graduation in Atmospheric Physics.

Srikanth Addala was married to Raaga Sudha, his aunt's daughter on May 5th 2011. The couple has a daughter, Ananda Valli.

After completing his Post Graduation, Srikanth Addala joined IIT Delhi for Ph.D. But somehow he is not comfortable with his life and the path he chose. So he left the Ph.D in the middle and headed to Hyderabad. His Uncle Maddala Galeswara Rao used to work as auditor for a film share office. He introduced Srikanth to Sindurapuvvu Krishna Reddy who in turn send him to 'Tagore' Madhu.

He was appointed as the apprentice to Tagore movie. After that film, he joined Aarya as Assistant director. It was then he told Dil Raju a story which instantly impressed the ace producer. But Srikanth took time to get experience in direction. He worked for Ghajini (Telugu dubbing works)and Bommarillu.

It was how Kotha Bangaru Lokam happened. This movie was released in 2008 and as a debutant he received good reviews. With quite a refreshing story he projected an intelligent screen play and he handled the story line very effectively.

After a long break, Srikanth unveiled his next movie, Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, a multistarrer, casting Victory star Venkatesh and Superstar Mahesh Babu. Narrating simple and classic story, Srikanth brought out the emotions in a realistic way. His simple way of screenplay is a plus point to the movie.

However the joy of success did not remain for long. He directed the debut venture of Naga Babu's son, Varun Tej after the success of Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. The film which released amid huge expectations failed to live up to them and bombed miserably at the box office.

However despite the movie results, with his impressive storytelling technique, Addala is always known to be a director who connects the audience to the movie and makes them experience the best kind of Tollywood. And he is always on the fast dial of every Tollywood star.
