Modeling:
Rakul Preet Singh did modeling and ramping for about 2 years after her college. She applied for Miss India 2011 contest and is the finalist there. She won four titles there - Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face, Femina Miss Talented, Femina Miss Beautiful Smile and Femina Miss Beautiful Eyes title. She also appeared in number of print ads for a lot of major brands, couple of TV commercials and a few ramp shows.
Filmy Career:
In 2009, Rakul Preet Singh first donned the grease paint for a Kannada movie, Gilli, a remake of 7/G Brundavan Colony. While signing the film, she was not so serious about her career but treated films as a source of extra pocket money. After the film she returned to college to complete her studies and also later competed in Miss India contest.
Her filmy journey resumed once again in 2011 in a Telugu film, Keratam opposite Siddharth Raj Kumar, a distant relative of Prabhas. But the movie bombed miserably at the box office. She did not get any offers in Telugu after that and she shifted her focus to Kollywood and did two films there.
The major break for her career came in 2013 with Telugu movie, Venkatadri Express. The movie went on to become a big hit and turned the table for her in Tollywood. Offers started flowing to her after the movie success. She also made her Bollywood debut with Yaariyan opposite Himansh Kohli recently.
2014 has witnessed a furry of offers for Rakul Preet Singh. She has acted in Gopichand’s Loukyam, Manchu Manoj’s Current Teega and Aadi’s Rough. While Loukyam is a big hit, both Current Teega and Rough failed at the box office. Despite the movie results, she is cruising in her career and is one of the busiest heroines in Telugu today.
