Kalyan Ram first donned the grease paint as a child artist in Bala Gopaludu film. After completing masters, Kalyan Ram came back to Hyderabad to test his luck in films. He started his career with two flops – Toli Choopulone and Abhimanyu. However, the young lad made a mark on audience with his boy the next door looks. The first and biggest break (till date) of his career came in the form of Athanokkade directed by Surender Reddy. The movie was produced by Kalyan Ram himself on his own NTR Arts banner.
Kalyan Ram bagged his first hit with a debut director and he believed in giving chances for first timers. But he was often disappointed by them. He went on to give chances to three new directors in the next eight movies he acted after Athanokkade. He also acted with established directors like Teja (in Lakshmi Kalynam) and Samudra (in Vijayadasami) but only to meet failure. Hare Ram is the only which got him reasonable success after Athanokkade.
In 2013, Kalyan Ram ventured Om 3D, India’s first action movie. The actor had invested more than 20 crores in the movie and toiled hard for more than 3 years for making it but only to get disappointed once again. Finally he staged a big comeback in 2015 with Pataas directed by Anil Ravipudi. The film brought back success to Kalyan Ram after several years and ended up as a big blockbuster.
