The next movie Subbu,could generate a mass image but could not be a hit at the box office. While waiting for a right storyline Aadiproved to be his breakthrough. The lead role of a college youngster turning in to a goon of Rayalaseema for the benefit of his beloved ones has earned him a star image and reestablished the successor stand of the Nandamuri heritage.

The movies Allari Ramudu and Naga could not make any good stand. While waiting for the Aadi kind ofa hit, Rajamouli gave him a right commercial break through with Simhaadri. Andhrawala his first movie with daring director PuriJagannadh couldn’t make the hit mark again. Even the later flow of movies Samba,NaaAlludu,Narasimhudu,Ashok were not up to the markin his movie journey.

Later collaborating with the creative director KrishnaVamsi, NTR stunned the audience withRaakhi. It gave him a sensational success after a long time with a touch of sister sentiment and a social theme dealing with violence on women.

With the comments of looking too obese in this movie, he started focusing his time and energy for a slimmer image. His next movie is Rajamouli’s mythological entertainer Yamadonga.With his dialogues and outstanding performance as Young Yama, he proved himself as the true heir to his grandfather’s glory. NTR made a decent comeback with the success of his next, Baadshah directed by Srinu Vaitla. The movie ended up as the biggest hit in the actor's career. But his career further sprang in to doldrums with the failure of his subsequent films, Ramayya Vasthavayya and Rabhasa.
