Amala Paul was born in Kerala in to a Christian Malayali family on 26 October 1991. After completing her plus 2, she wanted to pursue her engineering but took a year gap and joined St Teresa's college, to pursue a BA Degree in Communicative English.
As early as 2011, Several media reported Amala to be dating her Deiva Thirumagal director, AL Vijay but both of them kept on refusing those reports. But finally they got married on June 12th, 2014. Since it is an inter religious marriage, the engagement was done as per Christian rituals while marriage according to Hindu customs.
On October 26th, she announced to the World that she is expecting a baby very soon.
However her studies did not last longer, she was offered a role in Malayalam movie, Neelatharmara. Despite the movie success, she did not get any offers in Malayalam till 2011. Her screen name appeared as Anakha in her first movie but she later changed it to Amala Paul. In 2011, her third Tamil movie, Mynaa released (Other two being Veerasekharan and Sindhu Samavelli) and shot her to instant fame. The movie was dubbed in to Telugu as Prema Khaidhi and she scored good marks with Telugu audience with this film.
Her Juggernaut in Tamil continued with back to back successes there. After her not so prominent role in Nanna (dubbed version of Deiva Thirumagal), her first direct Telugu movie is Bejawada beside Naga Chaitanya but bombed miserably at the box office. In 2012, her first bilingual movie, Love Failure released and also registered a failure.
The year 2013 is significant in Amala Paul’s career. She paired up with stars like Ram Charan in Nayak and Allu Arjun in Iddarammayilatho. In July, she came back once again to Telugu audience with dubbing movie, Anna (Thalaiva in Tamil). But to her utter disappointment, these movies did not give the much needed push to her career. She paused her career for a while after her marriage in 2014.
