He is a lyricist that Telugu Cinema takes pride in having. It is said that it wasn’t an easy task to get a song from his mighty pen, but once he starts writing, an amazing song shapes up that touches one’s soul. He is none other than Atreya! As a matter of fact, great writers like him can never work under pressure and they don’t like to be pushed. You will definitely agree with this after reading the whole story. IQlik Movies shares with you an interesting incident that happened with Atreya and producer Dr. Ramanaidu, during the shoot of the film Premnagar.
In 1971, during the shoot of Suresh Productions blockbuster film Premnagar, Atreya was provided with a comfortable hotel room to complete all the songs for the film. The charges for the hotel services went on hiking day by day, but Atreya was still stuck with the climax song. He was as cool as a cucumber and didn’t bother much about finishing the song. The assistant directors sneaked into the hotel to try convincing him but couldn’t gather enough courage to ask Atreya about the song. Everybody started getting tense at the sight of plain blank papers. Meanwhile, Dr. Ramanaidu also started calling up his assistants and inquired about the status of the song. What could they say except being silent? This made Ramanaidu to enter into the scene, who finally reached Atreya’s hotel room.
In the hotel, Ramanaidu saw Atreya very relaxed and stress-free. He immediately burst out and said, “Evari Kosam Raasthavayya? Evari Kosam Rasthav?” (For whom will you write? For whom?) With a spark in his eye, Atreya looked at Ramanaidu and simply asked him to repeat what he said. This made Ramanaidu angrier and he raised his tone even more and said again, “Evari Kosam Raasthav? Evari Kosam?”
That was it. Bingo! Atreya got his cue and started writing the song right there. That was how the famous song from Premnagar shaped up. Even today, we all know how celebrated the song is, “Evari Kosam, Evari Kosam, Ee Prema Mandiram, Ee Sunya Nandanam”.
