Action, Adventure, comedy, love, friendship, you name it and you will have it in this biggest blockbuster of Indian Cinema, 'Sholay'. Strong script, excellent characters and brilliant performances made the film a memorable one that always remains on top of the list in the proudest chapters of Indian Cinema.
Ironically, nobody was interested to watch 'Sholay' when it was released. The theatres were almost empty and the film was pulled off screens. But, slowly it picked up and the rest is history. Not just in Hindi but this epic Bollywood film directed by Ramesh Sippy was a major success across the country. More than anywhere, it was a huge hit in Telugu. It successfully ran for 532 days, from October 4th, 1975 to March 18th, 1977. This was obviously the biggest record that a Hindi film had created in the history of Telugu Cinema, for that matter even Andhra Pradesh! The hall that pulled crowds, got housefull collections and a never-ending flow of different sections of people continuously for 93 days! The theatre that was lucky enough to hold this record is the very famous Ramakrishna Theatre in Abids.
