He’s one of the finest actors of all times. He can play any kind of role with ease. He is none other than the versatile Kaikala Satyanarayana garu. We’ve seen him play a mean villain, a loving father, an affectionate grandfather and many other unique roles. But, he actually played the lead role of a hero in his first film “Sipayi Kuthuru”, which was released in 1959. It was produced by D. L. Narayana who cleverly made Satyanarayana to sign a contract of making films in his banner for 10 years, which was quite a long period. While working for Sipayi Kuthuru, Satyanarayana got few other offers, but couldn’t take those offers as D. L. Narayana insisted he should wait till the film hits the screen. And it hit very badly leaving Satyanarayana in a hopeless situation.
He waited for an opportunity to knock but got stuck in a deadlock. He made his decision of leaving Madras and that was when he got an offer of playing a prince in the movie, “Sahasra Siraccheda Apoorva Chintamani”. Later he happened to meet B. Vittalacharya, who convinced Satyanarayana that the competition among heroes is tough and advised him to play the role of a villain in the film “Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima”. That decision took his career to an entirely different level where he went on and on to becoming the leading bad guy of Tollywood. His on-screen life was full of criminal deeds and he was best remembered that way until a point. Soon he discovered himself as a character artist playing several unique roles. He also earned the title of “Navarasa Natanaasarvabhowma” through years of hard work and dedication.
