An actress turned politician, who also happens to be a member of Parliament, a hard-core Telugu girl born in Rajahmundry. Well, as you might have guessed already, she’s none other than the elegantly beautiful Jayaprada. Today for her, there might not be any dearth of money, but can you guess how much she earned for her first acting assignment? Even if we leave it to your imagination for a while, you can’t get any closer to the answer. It was just 10 rupees that she received for her first acting role in the film "Bhumikosam”.

It happened when Jayaprada was in her high school giving a stage performance in the school’s annual day celebrations. A filmmaker in the audience spotted her and offered her a role in Bhumikosam. The role offered to her was a 3 minute dance number in the movie. First she refused to accept the offer! And her fans should thank God as well as her parents too! Because it was her parents who encouraged her to take the offer. She did and never looked back since then. Very soon after the movie, she was offered quite good roles in many films and her biggest breakthrough was Anthu Leni Katha in 1976 which got her to fame. She went about acting in classics like Sagarasangamam, for which she received the Filmfare Best Actress award. Coincidentally, Sagarasangamam turned 30 this year on January 1st.
