Naatu Naatu makes everyone sway at Oscars

In a stunning display of dominance, RRR took the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles by storm. The film’s infectious soundtrack proved irresistible, with Naatu Naatu taking home the  Oscar for Best Original Song. Let’s face it, with its catchy beats and unforgettable lyrics, the outcome was never really in doubt.

Composing maestro MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose were the proud recipients of the award, with Keeravaani using his acceptance speech to belt out a rendition of The Carpenters’ hit Top Of The World. The massively popular track, featured in the blockbuster RRR, was a clear standout, leaving no doubt as to why it emerged victorious.

Naatu Naatu won defeating Lady Gaga and Rihanna

With the film’s director SS Rajamouli and lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR in attendance, the team basked in the glory of their success. Going up against formidable competition, including Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick and Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Naatu Naatu emerged as the undisputed champion of the night. The celebrations are sure to continue for the RRR team, who can now add an Academy Award to their long list of achievements.

In a groundbreaking moment for Indian cinema, the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the movie RRR has won an Academy Award. This marks the first time that a song from an Indian film has received the prestigious honor. The Oscar ceremony was electrified by a stunning performance of the track by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, which earned them a standing ovation.

Golden Globe and Oscar for Naatu Naatu

This triumph follows on the heels of ‘Naatu Naatu’ receiving the Golden Globe for Best Song earlier this month, making RRR the first Indian movie to win a Golden Globe. The composition is the work of renowned music director MM Keeravaani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.

The movie RRR, set in the 1920s, is a fictional story based on the lives of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. The film features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson.

It is noteworthy that the song ‘Jai Ho’, composed by AR Rahman and written by Gulzar, from the 2008 British film Slumdog Millionaire, was the first Hindi song to win an Academy Award in the Best Original Score and Original Song categories. However, ‘Naatu Naatu’ has now made history by being the first song from an Indian movie to win an Oscar, solidifying the country’s position as a rising star in the global film industry.
