Telugu film industry has not had a very successful year so far. Two of the big budget films that were not only hyped by the makers and the media but also from the members of the general film loving population down south have failed miserably in making a mark in the box office. Biggest hope is Janatha Garage.
Big failure so far
Yes we are talking about Sardar Gabbar Singh and Brahmotsavam. Thankfully Nannaku Prematho and Sarrainodu did deliver what they promised. However, there is no need for film lovers to feel demoralized. There is a lot of good promising films lined up for release in the second half of this lackluster year and many look all set to impress the audiences.
Janatha Garage & Others
Janatha Garage is one such film. Out of all the films that are yet to release this one is certainly the biggest. In fact it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that this Junior NTR starrer might be the biggest release of the Telugu film industry this year. So what makes Janatha Garage so promising? First of all, the cast is incredible. To see NTR share the screen space with the Malayalam superstar Mohanlal would be a treat for all the fans. Tickets will find themselves fiercely in demand at the counter and on top of that, the film by Koratala Shiva features NTR Jr. in a dual role. This does create a very interesting premise and will pull crowds from all over the south to the theatres.
One of the more recent releases is Babu Bangaram which is a nice fresh air of an action romantic comedy. Why has it got so much attention? Well, for one thing, the film had a really promising trailer and teaser and the director’s previous film Bhale Bhale Magadivoy was exceptionally well made so the crowd does have a lot of expectations from this one. The film stars Venkatesh and Nayanthara and if you are looking forward to it the good news for you is that you don’t have to wait for too long. The film releases this August itself. There are many films other than these two that the crowd can really look forward to. Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo is one such film. The film is all about a road trip gone horribly wrong and even though the film is about romance, but be sure to expect some harsh realities of life. A.R. Rahman’s music and Gautam Vasudev Menon’s direction are also instrumental in garnering a lot of attention. Premam is probably the best upcoming romantic comedy in Tollywood right now. The original Malayalam version of the same name that starred Nivin Pauly had succeeded like nothing else and had ruled the hearts of youngsters not only in the home state of Kerala but all over south India. Naga Chaitanya is also expected to work his charm in the Telugu version. Two other films that people should really wait for are Abhinetri and Dhruva. The first one especially stars Tamannah and Prabhu Deva and is a horror film with some crazy dancing. So prepared to get wowed.
