Mega Power Star Ram Charan Teja vs Prince Mahesh Babu, audience are in for a show this year with GAAV and Aagadu which is already release hitting the theatre almost at the same time. Early 2014 saw the release of One and Yevadu, where Ram Charan had the upper hand as “One” failed to gain spectators attention. So now with everything set and audience anxious wait almost over GAAV will start its run on this coming October 1. Though there are rumors of a déjà vu, as “Aagadu” slowly losing its pace in the run and getting a mixed response from the audience, Govindhudu Andhari Vadele is ready to grab audience heart once again. Though commercially Aagadu made profit, it didn’t satisfy the audience as believed. With Rama Charan Yeevadu becoming a blockbuster and becoming one of the highest grossing films of 2014 the momentum is certainly with Teja.
The family outline and the village look of GAAV is also a huge asset , so even if a above average flick from Ram Charan may get a big leap and boost which may end up breaking the collection record. Aagadu received mixed to positive reviews at the time of release. Critics praised Mahesh Babu’s brilliant performance and ended up writing that the film had nothing new to offer and the plot being flat. The film received rating of 2.3, 3.5 and 3 from now running, Deccan chronicle and Times of India respectively. Aagadu also broke records for selling its satellite rights for a whopping 10 crores to Gemini Tv which is the highest for any film till date, surpassing Attarintiki Daredi previous records. GAAV with the addition of Kajal’s beauty and the war intensifies with Prakash Raj who was replaced in AGAADU, plays a prominent role in GAAV. It is reported that Prakash Raj was accused of undisciplined behavior on the sets of Agaadu, having a row with its assistant director. Prakash Raj received a hated response through social networking sites and by calling a press conference Prakash Raj replied that yes there was difference in opinion between him and director. May be because later never liked his performance in the movie, he was replaced.
The distribution rights of the film was sold for around 8.10 crores which included prints and marketing costs and it should be noted that this is the highest for any of the Ram Charan’s film till date. Hari pictures gained the distribution rights in Nellore region for 2 crores which is another record. The overseas distribution will be done by Asian movies and will be released through Cine Galaxy, which says that film will have a huge release and opening in overseas especially In USA.
With the heavy marketing, the first look of the film was released on March last and getting a viral response from the audience. The posters which were released also got heavy response from the audience throughout social networking sites. The trailer and teaser both receiving applauds from critics and fans even mentioning it as it is no ordinary masala flick, its rich in color, glamour and everything you hope for in a commercial film. So now with days for the release it is almost sure that GAAV will be a hit and what happened at the starting of the year will happen again, we will wait and see.
