Legend no more
The Telugu movie industry suffered a huge shock following the demise of the legendary actress TelanganaShakuntala. She passed away after going through a heart attack lateon Thursday night i.e. 13 June at herKompally residence Hyderabad. She was aged 63 and is survived by her two children. The ‘NuvvuNenu’ star is said to have collapsed in her home due to the stroke before being rushed to the NarayanaHrudayalam hospital situated in Suraram.
The Telugu news industry has been abuzz with news on this matter ever since. After being admitted, the doctors were at a loss declaring that she was brought dead. Beginning her career in 1981, the actress shot to fame after her critically acclaimed roles in movies like ‘Gangotri’, ‘Gulabi’, ‘Lakshmi’ and ‘Okkadu’. Shankuntala was known for her authentic telangana accent and strong portrayals of characters in her films. Her negative role in ‘Dhool’ as SornaAkka made a stronghold for her in the Tamil film industry. The film had ace actors like Vikram and Jyothika along with Shakuntala. Having starred in more than seventy feature films, she is being mourned in the film industry now. Though she will live on in the hearts of her fans, her absence will be much felt. She was last seen on-screen in a comedy entertainer titled ‘PandavuluPandavuluThummeda’ in January of this year. The versatile actress was known for her work in comedy as well negative roles.

The film fraternity is in shock and many celebrities have expressed their grief at this sudden loss of a valuable gem of the Telugu film industry. Much sadness clouded the industry when a cardiac arrest claimed the life of the very talented Shakuntala. People took to tweeting their condolences post the sad incident.

Legacy lives on
The popular face of ‘OseyRamulamma’ and ‘MaaBhoomi’ and broadly of Telugu cinemais no more. The veteran Shakuntala had started as a stage artiste and then rose to fame for her proficiency in rayalseema and telangana accents. She has enthralled audiences for over three decades and has won many accolades for her supreme quality of work.Telugu film industry personalities have said that she will be sorely missed and it was a sad day for the industry on account of having a lost a diamond.
