Yes, there seems to thousands of Telegu movie lovers in the US. The most anticipated movie after Bahubali 2, Spyder had claimed huge Box Office Records specially from the US.
The film came close to catching $1 million on its first day reaching collections of around $968,000 is the still now the highest for any Tollywood movie.
The movie which released last Wednesday was opened in more than 400 screens in USA. And has earned $1,005,630 from 236 locations in the US.
Sources reveal that there are many crazy fans of the Telegu film industry in US who travel more than 300-400 km each weekend to catch the latest arrivals of their fans. Counting the costs of travel, fuel, food and parking, an average US individual spends around $500 in a week.
However, there seems to be an ugly side of this huge collection.
Famous director and critic, Mahesh Kathi said that this collection did not matter much. According to him, the amount by which the distributor bought the rights and the profit made by the film mattered the most.
Also, there comes a huge difference based on the star in the movie. While bigger actor’s films are priced at $30 – $100 a ticket, normal film with lower actors are priced at $14 or even less at times. According to Kathi, films which have minimum charged tickets and have good box office collections are actually the films which are successful.And Spyder seems to be such a film.
Spyder is a spy thriller movie where the hero, an intelligence officer must bring down a maniac terrorist in Hyderabad. The film has been directed by A.R. Murugados. The hero is portrayed by Mahesh Babu and the villain by S. J. Surya. Surya has already been praised for his outstanding performance of the negative role.
