Mani Ratnam is one of the most remarkable directors from the contemporary south and he is surely going to create some buzz once again as he is returning to the silver screen with a film called Kaatru Veliyidai, which is coincidentally his 25th film too. While what could be glanced in the posters was simply the lead pair, a recent teaser released has created a stir among film lovers as they always have high expectations from Mani Ratnam.
Telugu release and dates
The film, although is shot in Tamil, will be released in Telugu dubbed version and has been titled Cheliyaa. The film is set to be released on April 7th and it is going to be an important film as the critics suggest. The teaser has already gained some attention because of the landscape it is showing.
The theme of the film
The film, as per the teaser, seems to be shot in Kashmir as the heroine catches snowflakes falling on her hands. It is set in the mountains and the hero recites a poem in the silence of the Himalayas. Beautifully shot, the soundscape of the film is also worth noting and is being heavily anticipated. There are some beautiful images such as the hero walking in silhouette.
The cast and crew
Karthi has been roped in as the hero and he is playing the character of a fighter pilot while Aditi Rao Hydari is playing a doctor in the role of heroine. The legendary A. R. Rahman is collaborating once again with Mani Ratnam in music and Ravi Varman is taking care of cinematography. Shashaa Tripathi has rendered voice to a song as far as the teaser is concerned.
A new direction
Often, Mani Ratnam has been hailed as the director who knows when to tap what kind of sentiment and still bring out some exquisite technical work. His films have been known to everyone and hence, people are expecting something brilliant from him. The content of the film seems to be a romantic drama, but one can never know what lies at the heart of it.
