Introduction
When we think about the movies of south the first movies which come into mind are the movies of Andhra, the Telugu film industry. This industry has been overpowering other film industries of the south from years. It gave us greats as NTR, Chiranjeevi, even the action star Rajnikant has some wonderful movies in this language which have brought him into limelight. The telugu movie industry has grown too big, and it is not only bounded to the south but is watched all over India and even the world via sub titles, dubbing into regional languages (mostly Hindi) or just by trying to figure out what they are speaking and get some sense out of it.
Recent movies
Nowadays, telugu movies have become elaborate, they are just not normal movies, the have become a part of the mainstream cinema. Thousands of fans knock at the doorstep of theatres and multiplexes just to get a glimpse of their favourite star like Prince Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Siddharth, Prabhas or others.
But the latest telugu movies are in a bit of a problem nowadays which may cause a downfall of their lead among the other sister industries. The movies of the other southern movie industries are using the formula of the telugu movie makers and bringing movies far more excellent than what they are making. So let us compare where the telugu movies lack nowadays, the first attribute is story, the whole southern industry movies are run on story and nothing is illogical (obviously there is a reason for high literacy rate). The second attribute is romance, telugu movie heroes are better in romance than any other superstar in the industry (we are not taking Shahrukh into consideration, he is romantic genius), then we come into the budgeting of the movie. Telugu movies are high budgeter mostly, with huge office setup for Arya 2 to the extraordinary scenes of Billa which was much better cinematographed than any other Don Movie or remake of it.
Action is the Priority
So, this brings us to the last and the most vital point which defined southern cinema, that is Action. Action has been a keystone towards the rise of southern cinema. We saw their genre of action be laughed upon for ages but in the recent time with the help of Rohit Shetty and few other this over the top action has made him a 100 Crore movie maker, with his stint with golmaal series and recently the Chennai Express which expressed its way to the club. The new telugu movies have been lacking out of this important aspect of their cinema, their movies have action sequence but they aren’t over the top or something which would be remembered, the hero may hit a thousand men in one blow but it doesn’t have the charm which Rajnikant used to carry or which Ram Charan showed in Magadheera. This movie was a sheer genius in telugu film history, but none of the director attempted to bring front the same breath taking action-drama sequence to the theatres. With the other industries bringing out better action movies, the telugu directors should look into the past and bring out what defines their industry the most.
