The movie
The movie Vikramasimha is a motion capture 3D computer-animated period film. This has been written by KS Ravikumar and directed by Soundarya R Ashwin. The background of the story is partially inspired from the story of the Pandya Dynasty king Kochadaiyan Ranadhiran. The film has been categorized by critics to be of a fictional nature with minute references to historical facts and figures. The movie dramatizes the age old conflict of good versus evil. Its promotional clips and enchanting music have received positive response, thereby creating an enormous amount of hype and expectations surrounding the film.
The movie will act as the pathfinder for a new technology – motion capture photo-realistic 3D animation in the Indian film industry. This is the technique used in the Tintin movie which was produced and directed by Spielberg. Vikramasimha is going to be the first full length Indian cinema using performance capture technology. Fans and critics are eagerly waiting for the release of this new movie which would advance Indian cinema another step forward and usher in a new era. The delay
The juggernaut surrounding the release of this epic movie has suddenly received a huge setback wherein the movie release was delayed and rescheduled from 9th May to 23rd May. This news has started the continuous chain of many rumors which the makers have denied. The official statement issued by the filmmakers’ states that they had to postpone the release as the rendering of the 3D version of the movie is taking more time than they had initially expected. Besides, there has been a leap in the demand for screens which have caught them on the wrong foot.
The latest update confirms the release date as 23rd May and the rumors that the release may get delayed further have been strongly nullified by the makers. The film would get released on 23rd May in six languages- Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Hindi, Punjabi and Bhojpuri.
There has been another rumor doing rounds in the industry. Rajanikanth has a good reputation of backing up his producers and even refunding their investment in case the film does not perform well at the box office. For this movie, buyers are not showing enough confidence to buy the distribution rights as they are not too optimistic about the success of this movie. Another factor which has put them in the doubt is the use of this new technology and how this will fare in the Indian film industry. But even after all doubts, one person names Subrahmaniyam has approached Rajanikanth with full confidence and has invested 20 crores and purchased the distribution rights of the movie.
