Once Rahul was sitting with a client in a restaurant, a person appeared out of nowhere and asked if he is interested in acting an ad film. He later attended the audition and was selected for the ad to be directed by popular Bollywood director Dibakar Banerjee. Later his first Tamil film director Ravi Verman’s team member saw one of his ads and introduced him to the director. Thus he got his first chance in Moscowin Kavery. The film also marks the debut of Samantha and music director Thaman but it bombed miserably at the box office. He later acted in handful of Tamil movies without any luck.
His biggest break came in the form of his Telugu debut movie, Andala Rakshasi. One of his friends working in Radio Mirchi suggested him to Andala Rakshasi team. The movie gained good buzz before the release but failed to rake in good numbers at the box office. But Rahul got good recognition for his role and offers started to flow. He recently shifted his base to Hyderabad and is concentrating fully on Telugu cinema.
He attempted to impress the audience with films like Pelli Pusthakam, Nenem Chinna Pillana, Gaalipatam (Extended Guest Appearance) and Ala Ela. While Pelli Pusthakam and Nenem Chinna Pillana failed to tickle the box office, Ala Ela went on to become a decent success getting Rahul his first ever breakthrough in Tollywood.
