Nithiin’s filmy career off to a flyer with humongous hits like Jayam and Dil, when things looked extremely rosy, he had to face a series of flops which almost overshadowed him for 8 years until he made his comeback.
Nithiin Kumar Reddy is born to Sudhakar Reddy, a famous film distributor in Nizam region. Born in Hyderabad, the actor did his schooling here itself. He had to discontinue his studies to try his luck in acting.
Director Karunakaran is a close friend of Nithin’s father. He first identified the actor in Nithin and advised Sudhakar Reddy to introduce him to films. Nithin always credits Karunakaran for making him realize he have it in him to become an actor.
Sudhakar Reddy distributed Teja’s Nuvvu Nenu in Nizam. Director Teja saw Nithin at Sandhya Theater on 1st and 150th day of Nuvvu Nenu and selected him as the hero of his next, Jayam. Later he came to know about Nithin’s background.
Nithin’s first two movies, Jayam and Dil were blockbuster. His performance in Jayam got his the Best Debutant award at the Film fare awards that year. Everyone thought he is the next big thing in the Tollywood but fate has other thoughts. Even though acting under big names like SS Rajamouli, K Raghavender Rao, Ram Gopal Varma, failures followed for almost 8 years. He tried several things during this period like developing 6 pack abs; dance training etc but none of them could save him from 15 consecutive flops except for Sye whose success is mostly credited to Rajamouli.
When everyone almost started forgetting Nithin, the actor made one of the biggest comebacks in the history of Tollywood. He smashed the box office with two back to back hits in the form of Ishq and Gunde Jaari Gallathayyindhe interestingly both the films are directed by new comers. Also both the movies went on to become the top two biggest hits in the actor’s career.
Riding high on the successes of Ishq and Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyindhe, Nitin was finally grounded with the average results of both his next films - Heart Attack and Chinnadana Nee Kosam. The films did not work well even though they have big heads as directors. However the heartening thing is that both the films have performed better commercially than their talk.
Nithin is a big fan of Pawan Kalyan. He makes sure that he has some reference of the actor in his movie. His recent movie, Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyindhe is named after a song in Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh. The movie also had a remix song from Pawan Kalyan’s Thammudu movie.
