Sardaar Gabbar Singh sets new record in Nizam but loses out to Baahubali
Pawan Kalyan is leaving no stones unturned in his efforts to ensure his upcoming film Sardaar Gabbar Singh’s success and news and rumors about the film are already turning heads and drawing unprecedented publicity and attention.
The worldwide theatrical rights of Sardar Gabbar Singh, directed by K.S Ravindra, were acquired by Eros International, a true heavyweight in the movie distribution and production business. However, following this, Eros International went on to sell the distribution rights in various regions to multiple regional and local distributors. However, the distribution rights in Nizam went to Indra films in a deal of staggering twenty crores. Only one film have had a more expensive deal of distribution rights in Nizam and it was Baahubali, rights of which were sold for an even higher twenty five crores tp Dil Raju. Having demanded the second highest price for distribution in the Nizam area for any Telugu film, Sardaar Gabbar Singh has already earned a table profit in its business even before its release.
Cast and filming
The shooting for the film, jointly produced by Pawan Kalyan and Sharath Marar is going on in Kerala. Kajal Aggarwal and Sharad Kelkar also play the roles of the female lead and the chief antagonist in the film respectively. Principal photography had already begun in April, 2015 in Malshej Ghat in the state of Maharashtra and the shooting is currently in its final phases. While Anand Sai is the film’s art director, Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music in the film and Arthur A. Wilson is in charge of cinematography. Raai Laxmi, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Sanjjana, Ali etc are also part of the highly star studded cast the film boasts of. After shooting started in April last year, it took several breaks as many actors joined the team later. Kalyan himself had several political commitments and could not join the shoot until June. Bollywood superstars like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Pareeniti Chopra were all approached for the role of the female lead in the movie. However, they had to turn the film down because of busy schedules. Trisha Krishnan was also approached but it didn’t work out either. Raai Laxmi was not signed until September last year. Kabir Duhan Singh and Sanjjanaa also confirmed their inclusions. Sanjjana plays a Gujarati princess in the film.
