Upcoming telugu movie Kathakali cast and crew
Telugu films are quite a rage in the market and Kathakali, the new Telugu film in the market, is also attempting to create a sensation. It has quite a few big names in the casting section and the film’s craft is also in the hands of an able set of crews. From the director to cinematographer, from the music composer to editor, there is someone whom the industry considers a force to be reckoned with. At the thrall of the situation is of course, Vishal, the charismatic star of Telugu cinema. Although he has not been very successful in the recent films, this film may just be the stepping stone for a new phase of grand success.
The list of casts and their corresponding characters
The film, being a thriller, has plenty of characters and hence, has quite a few big names. Vishal is playing the lead role of course, playing the role of Amudhan and Catherine Tresa is playing the role of Meenukutty. These two will romance each other in the film. Also, there are important roles like that of Thamba, played by Madhusudhan Rao. There is also Jayaprakash, who plays the role of a business tycoon.
The director and scriptwriter
The film is being produced by Vishal, who has a lineage in film production since his father was a producer too. His company, Vishal Film Factory, is at the helm of production in this situation. The responsibility of direction has been given to Pandiraj. He has also been given the role of script writer. This is a comfort zone for Pandiraj, since directing his own script remains many a directors’ dream.
The crew
At the helm of different affairs, some of the most brilliant minds in the industry are at work. The music direction is being managed by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi. The department of cinematography is aptly in the hands of Balasubramaniem. On the editing table, the film is looked after by Pradeep E Ragav. In short, the film has all the ingredients to become a major success. Whether it can live up to its potential, which is to be seen.
Vishal-Pandiraj collaboration
Back in May last year, Vishal and Pandiraj announced that there would be collaboration between them for a new film and that they both would be involved in the production of the film. An official statement was also released that said that Pandiraj would start working on the new film with full time commitment once he is done with his work in two other different ongoing projects he had already signed: Pasanga 2 and Idhu Namma Aalu. The makers of the film were in talks with Keerthy Suresh for the female lead role. However, their efforts to get her to join the team were unsuccessful and then Catherine Tresa took her place. The filming process started five months ago in July, last year. However, it was not until September that ‘Kathakali’, the name of the movie was unveiled.
Release being postponed
the film was initially set for release last year itself during Diwali. Unfortunately, lead actor Vishal was busy and involved in the Nadigar Sangam elections and hence the release had to be postponed. It was also stated by Vishal that the film is a whodunit or ‘who has done it’ thriller where the audience and the protagonist are on the same wavelength as the mystery unfolds through the course of the film. ‘Kathakali’ is based on a real incident involving one of Pandiraj’s friends. Pandiraj stated that he is genuinely glad to have worked with Vishal and added that the superstar wanted to take up a role that was different from his usual on screen image. Initially, there were many comic scenes in the film as well but in order to make the plot of the film tighter, they had to be edited out, revealed Pandiraj. Hiphop Tamizha has composed the music for this film.
Vishal’s Kathakali (Telugu) trailer talks
A trailer can tell a lot about a film. You can get a hint of the plotline since there is a sketch of the plot in most trailers. More than that, you will come to know what kind of film it is. Whether it is a thriller, horror, comedy or action, the trailer will tell you that. The trailer also has glimpses of the characters and the stars involved in the film. All these elements build the hype and anticipation around a film. So, a good trailer is the essence of a film’s success. Such is the case with Kathakali, Vishal’s latest venture where he has taken up the role of both a producer and an actor.
The name and its connotation
Kathakali is basically taken from a colloquial phrase used widely in Tamil, “kathakali aada thayaraayittan”, which can be roughly translated to the phrase, “he is ready for the game”. Basically, Kathakali connotes to the idea of a game. The name of the film clearly indicates that it is a thriller film. But the thriller has some dose of romance too since the film features Catherine Tresa as one of the romancing figures against Vishal.
The film’s basic plotline
While the film’s plotline has not been clearly established in the trailer, it seems that the story unfolds within a single day when the lead character takes a trip from Chennai to Kadalur. This is fairly similar to the plotline of Murder on the Orient Express, a legendary crime thriller novel by Agatha Christie. Although nothing conclusive can be said about it, the film may well be a case of slight adaptation of this famous novel.
An action-packed film, the plot
It begins with a quarrel among fishermen and from there, the plot moves to focus on Vishal. There are multiple characters and in the end, you will be left guessing who actually murdered the gangster. There is plenty of suspense in the film and you can never figure out who is the killer. Since there is not exactly a clue left, audience will be on their heels to find out the truth.
While the film does not give any hint about the plot in an exact manner, the film has a hint of some action-packed sequences in the trailer itself. So, there will be some high-octane scenes that will surely take the fans to the halls.
The tidbits of the film
The lanky look of Vishal has garnered attention from both his male and female admirers. So, keeping with his romantic image, he is romancing Catherine Tresa and Regina Cassandra in this film. The film also features Shatru, Gopi and Soori in various roles. Hiphop Tamizha will be doing the musical scores while Pandiraj will be taking the director’s chair.
Good music, great action
Music is a major part of any Indian film and Hiphop Thamizha delivers it big time with some peppy numbers. BGM is one of those tracks that are destined to be a chartbuster. In fact, the action sequences have great background music as they create a great sense of rhythm. In fact, the action sequences are worth mentioning since from the very trailer people can get a glimpse of them. It is evident that the action sequences will draw a major crowd from all quarters.
A great distribution in both halves
The film has a first half that is packed with romance moments and comedy skits. So, the first half is a bit slow. But the film picks up pace in the second half and becomes quite a film. The heroine has little scope to act, but she flaunts her beauty well to woo her fans. People will be flocking the halls if everything goes right. Even Vishal seems to be very optimistic about a massive box office success.
Confident about success
The film has a lot at stake. But, Vishal, being the producer and the central character of the film, is surely not thinking anything apart from success. He seems to be pretty confident and hails it as the perfect Pongal entertainer. He advocates for the elements of pure entertainment in the film since the film, albeit a thriller, will be an out and out commercial one. He is hoping for Kathakali to become a turning point in his career since this can surely be a new beginning for Vishal both as an actor and producer.
Other film Performances
Jan Month is never without some stiff competition from other quarters. For example, it has some big names standing off against each other like Balakrishna and Nagarjuna. While Balakrishna’s Dictator is already a hit, Nagarjuna’s Soggade Chinni Nayana has got success. Even Sharwanand’s film Express Raja, a romantic comedy, got rave reviews. In short, the journey of Kathakali to success has some obstacles ahead.
