‘I’- A Tamil thriller film, written and directed by Shankar
‘I’ is a romantics thriller Tamil film directed by Shankar, starring Amy Jackson and Vikram in the lead roles. The story of the film is of an artist’s revenge from his enemies who were jealous of his growing popularity. The film has a very peculiar start, which shows a hunchback kidnapping a girl on his back on the day of her marriage. Thereafter the story continues and a lot of 3D effects have been inserted in the film. The plan was for a Telugu movie I, but the panel decided to make the film in Tamil. The start cast for the film has been rightly chosen, but critics says that Amy Jackson was not the original choice for the lead role in the film. Now, the question arises that who was the original choice for this film and why did Amy Jackson replaced her. What was the real cause behind such a replacement and what made Shankar choose Amy Jackson in the lead role for ‘I’? All these questions were raised at the launch party of the film as well as on the date of release, besides the question of- Why not Telugu movie I? The film was scheduled for release on 14th January, 2015 and by now it has been released on more than 3000 screens worldwide. Director Shankar has proved that a Tamil film can also rule the chartbusters in the long run. He has put in a lot of efforts in the film and this is why the film is now being shown in the theatres more than thrice in a single day and that too on public demand.

What made Samantha back out from the film?
Samantha was finalised for the lead role in te film ‘I’, but due to health related issues she had to back out not only from the film ‘I’ but also from many other huge projects. Samamtha was approached by Shankar for this film and also by Mani Ratnam for his next project. But unfortunately she had a bad health and had to back out from two big projects. Amy Jackson grabbed one of the finest opportunities, and agreed to work with Shankar. The director is now upto making a dubbed version of ‘I’ in the year 2015 itself. May be in the year 2015 or 2016 we would be watching Telugu movie I.
