Eminent Tollywood writer Ganesh Patro breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai on January 5, 2015 at the age of 69. The veteran writer had been under treatment for cancer for some time and lost out the battle leaving the Tollywood industry under a cloak of grief.
Career
Ganesh Patro was born in Parvathipuram, AP, in 1945. He started as a playwright and made his debut in 1976 as a writer for the movie “Athavarillu”. He had a long term association with late filmmaker K Balachander and wrote dialogues for some famous movies like Marocharitra, Idhi Katha Kadu and Rudraveena. His works in films Mayuri, Seetaramayyagari Manavaralu are also well remembered and cherished in the industry. He had also written dialogues for more than 20 Telugu movies for filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna. This enigmatic writer has over 50 films in his long and brilliant career, the last being Seetharamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, a Telugu drama in 2013.
Reaction
The industry was left shell shocked at this massive setback and everyone in the industry was in grief regarding this loss to the industry. Superstar Chiranjeevi issued a statement to the reporters stating that they are in absolute grief over losing an important member of the industry. His works were superb and many his immortal dialogues would stay on in mind for ever.
The future
The industry has suffered a deep blow which would be a very difficult one to recover from and maybe time would provide a balm on the fresh wound but the truth remains that the void left by this eminent writer would be very difficult to fill. The industry was deeply moved at this shocking news and has shared their grief and support for the family and friends of the renowned writer in this hour of grief.
