In an era when Tollywood is immersed in meaningless fight sequences, item songs, and lack of strong female characterizations- suddenly some films stun the audience with a spark of reality and thought provoking themes. One such film is MallelaTeeram lo Sirimalle Puvvu that released in July, 2013. The film brilliantly revolves around the main protagonist Lakshmi (Sri Divya) and the ups and downs which she faces in her married life.
Why is it so?
The film took the audience back to the simple living, explaining the worth of human relations more than money and materialistic aspects of life. The story deals with Lakshmi, who loves simple pleasures in life and expects pure affection and love from her husband. But unfortunately, her husband is a complete contrary character who believes in earning money all the time. It is when Lakshmi meets a film lyricist Kranthi (Kranthi), she finds the man of her dreams in him. He is a mellowed down person with great thoughts and ideologies. Lakshmi decides to go ahead with her feelings instead of societal norms.
A tabooed theme, an aesthetic storytelling, beautiful locales, Sri Divya’s performance and soothing music made this the Best critic film of the year!
